Who We Are

Bluemaxx Racing is a private race team engaged in amateur motorsports. The team was founded in 1989 by me, Rich Cowell and my blue 1983 Porsche 928S named Maxxine (hence the name Bluemaxx). Today, Bluemaxx Racing consists of me Rich Cowell, my wife, Erinn Cowell and our German Shepherd, ENKA. Our main objective is to have a great time with friends and family at different car events around the world. Although Erinn and I are Porsche owners, we are both general car enthusiasts who appreciate new and old cars alike. We are comprised of 2 people and a dog. Below is a brief history of how this team came to be. Just click on our names to see our pages.

Bluemaxx Racing was founded while I was living in New York City. My intent was to put together a team where I could one day get back involved in road racing and autocrossing with some of my best friends in the car world. For the first two years, Bluemaxx Racing was nothing more than a name and an idea. Since I was living in New York City and did not have my Porsche with me, I was forced to be a spectator. Then, in 1998 I moved back to Florida and soon thereafter purchased a new 1999 Porsche 996. Within a few months, Bluemaxx Racing was up to speed winning numerous FTDs at local and regional autocrosses. On the weekends that I was not autocrossing, I was instructing at many different driver's education and open track events helping drivers learn what it takes to control their cars at high speeds around a track.

In December 1999 I decided to do something that I have never done before, drag racing! I entered a National Import Drag Racing Championship at Moroso Motorsports Park with my Porsche. But I needed to test and tune beforehand so I went out to Moroso Motorsports Park on the Friday night before the event and there, I met Erinn. Erinn was driving a heavily modified 1992 Mustang LX 5.0 Hatchback that was consistently running low 13s on street tires. After exchanging drag racing information for road racing information it was clear we were going to see each other again.

Six months later, Erinn decided to enter her first Driver's Education at Homestead and surprisingly, she was extremely smooth and fast despite a torrential rainfall all weekend. Over the next year, she not only became a solo driver, but the renowned Suncoast Region, PCA asked her to become an instructor for them. For those of you who do not know, Suncoast Region, PCA is arguably the most talented group of instructors in the U.S. Since then, Erinn has become one of the "most wanted" instructors in PCA, MCA, PBOC, and BMWCCA. Nowadays, Erinn rarely instructs because of our racing endeavors, although if a family or close friend needs help on the track, she will re-appear every once in a while.

Professionally speaking, Erinn and I started our own Real Estate company called The Cowell Group. The Cowell Group is a fully licensed, private real estate company focused on residential, commercial and investment real estate. We offer a full array of real estate services throughout the state of Florida through Keller Williams Realty of the Palm Beaches. We are fully committed to offering the best service for our clients as well as the confidence that they have joined the best team. One of the many focuses that we have in the Real Estate world is RACING REAL ESTATE. Having driven and raced at all of the tracks in Florida, The Cowell Group knows where the best places to have a home if you want to be conveniently located to all of the racing action in Florida.

Our newest member of the team is Thomas Richard Cowell. Born on September 10, 2006 at 8:51 AM and weighing in at a whopping 8 lbs. 2 oz., "Tommy" as he is already known will certainly grow up to be a force in almost everything he sets his mind to. In the meantime, we will just have to wait and watch him grow up

A more recent addition to the team is Sgt. Enka Polie vom Porsche-Roush CD. Being in charge of our "Security", she can almost always be found wherever we go. She is a full-blooded German Shepherd who loves to be living life as a dog.

Today, Erinn, Thomas, Enka and I drive with many different organizations and car clubs, including the Porsche Club of America (PCA), Porsche-BMW Owners Club (PBOC), Gulfcoast Autocrossers, Equipe Rapide (ER), Ecurie Vitesse Sports Car Club (EVSCC), BMW Car Club of America (BMWCCA), Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR). We are active in almost all forms of motorsports, including road racing, drag racing, rallying, autocrosses, and driver's educations.
